During the match, the referee and Melby were accidentally knocked unconscious, and the Von Brawners took advantage by double-teaming Gunkel. Don McIntyre charged the ring and helped Gunkel clear the ring, but the referee came to just in time to see McIntyre and gave the win to the Von Brawners, citing outside interference. The program we have for this card mentions that Mars Bennett was recently killed in an automobile accident near Nashville, TN. However, he had been billed as such at different times throughout 1957 in Atlanta, Marietta, and Augusta. The separate offices seemed to be in dispute about who they wanted to recognize for most of the year, but it appears to have settled itself, as Von Brawner appears to be the undisputed champion around this time.
