Kiniski had been the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Thesz on January 7, 1966, in St. Louis, MO. The program for this card featured a collage of historical photos, including Thesz, Steve Casey, Gus Sonnenberg, Jim Browning, Frank Gotch, Strangler Lewis, Joe Stecher, Stanislaus Zbyszko, Danno O’Mahoney, Bronko Nagurski, and Jim Londos, as well as the kayfabed version of the history of the NWA World Heavyweight Title. There was also an additional collage of photos featuring Thesz with various celebrities, including Bob Hope, Corinne Calvet, Alan Ladd, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and Kirk Douglas and his children, which of course, included Michael Douglas. Also in the program, it was reported that Lars & Gene Anderson believed Mr. Wrestling was actually a Torres brother. The program for this card acknowledged Louie Tillet as the reigning Florida Heavyweight Champion. It also features an advertisement placed by Freddie Blassie, asking women between ages 18 and 50 to call him for either full time or part time work in a “fast growing business”. It was announced that Mario Galento, Rip Hawk, and Swede Hanson would be wrestling on the card on April 28, 1967. It is unclear as to how the Andersons came to be recognized as World Tag Team Champions. The last reference we have shows Enrique & Ramon Torres defending the title against them on February 24, 1967, in Atlanta. El Mongol had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Nick Kozak on April 7, 1967, in Atlanta. Jack Crawford managed El Mongol. Mario Galento was scheduled, but there was no mention in the reports following the card. During the match between Mr. Wrestling and the Masked Mr. Nils, Lars Anderson donned a mask and tried to switch with Nils, but was disqualified when the referee caught them. Leo Garibaldi lasted the required time limit he had to meet in his match with El Mongol in order to face Jack Crawford. There were two referees for the match between Enrique & Ramon Torres and Lars & Gene Anderson. The Andersons had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated the Torres’ on April 28, 1967, in Atlanta, and had been billed as World Tag Team Champions since April 28, 1967. In the program for this card, Paul Jones reported that he was attempting to sign a rematch between Lou Thesz and Gene Kiniski for the latter’s NWA World Heavyweight Title based on the match held in Atlanta on April 14, 1967, stating that Thesz had agreed to waive his purse if the match took place. Kiniski had been the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Thesz on January 7, 1966, in St. Louis, MO. It was announced that Jack Daniels would be wrestling on the card on May 19, 1967.
