Stan & Butcher Vachon had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated Enrique & Alberto Torres on December 18, 1967, in Augusta. The program for this card had Jack Crawford announcing that Buddy Fuller was actually Ed Welch. He also provided a photo of El Mongol holding the Georgia Heavyweight Title belt, with Mexico City in the background, while calling for his reinstatement to wrestle in Georgia. It was reported in the program that Paul Jones was facing opposition from the NWA Board in an effort to declare the title vacant, where Crawford supposedly had attorneys appealing the suspension. It was announced that Gene Kiniski would be wrestling Mr. Wrestling on the card on January 12, 1968.

He was not satisfied simply with both men being in separate matches, and insisted that both men participate in the same match on February 2, 1968.

During the match between Ray Gunkel, Buddy Fuller & Mr. Wrestling and Tarzan Tyler, Dr. M & El Mongol, Gunkel removed the Dr. M’s mask to identify him as someone who strongly resembled Oki Shikina, but his face was covered so fast it could not be completely confirmed. X claimed, however, that Dr. M was not Shikina, but rather a Mexican wrestler named Senor Zapata. Leo Garibaldi was credited as being a referee on this card. There was an announcement in the program for this card that although Channel 11 changed from WAII to WQXI, the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” program would still air from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It was announced that Gene Kiniski would be wrestling on the card on March 22, 1968.

Gentleman X (1) managed Tarzan Tyler & El Mongol. Gene Kiniski had been the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Lou Thesz on January 7, 1966, in St. Louis, MO. The program for this card mentioned that Paul Jones believed that Gentleman X was Jack Crawford in a mask, although he walked with a limp and seemed to be a bit smaller in stature than Crawford. Jones noted that he had agreed to allow Crawford to appear for a match on March 29, 1968, so that both he and Gentleman X could be seen at the same place at the same time, giving him the opportunity to confirm or deny the allegations. Crawford was quoted in the program that he had only pulled the stunt with El Mongol appearing as Dr. M to avenge the fact that Mr. Wrestling and the Torres brothers had started “all of this mask business” many months prior, once again claiming Mr. Wrestling was Tim Woods in a mask. It was announced that Lou Thesz and the Rising Suns would be wrestling on the card on March 29, 1968.
