October 2, 1970 (Friday) – Atlanta, GA – Atlanta Municipal Auditorium [P] (Paul Jones (01) – Promoter / Georgia Championship
Wrestling) > Robert Fuller over Cisco Grimaldo > Mr. Ito (01) & the Great Ota over Bob Armstrong & Tim Geohagen > Bill Dromo over Karl
Von Stroheim > Ray Gunkel & Bobby Shane & El Mongol over Paul DeMarco & the Assassins (01) (Assassin #1 (01) & Assassin #2 (01))
> Georgia Heavyweight Title Match: Buddy Colt* over Freddie Blassie at 18:00 to retain the title / Notes: Fuller substituted for El Medico in
the match against Grimaldo. Homer O’Dell managed Colt and Von Stroheim. Colt had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight
Champion since he went over Nick Bockwinkel on September 4, 1970, in Atlanta. The program for this card shows that “Atlanta TV
Wrestling, hosted by Ed Capral, has moved to a new time slot on Channel 11 each Saturday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. It was reported
that Bobo Brazil would be wrestling in Atlanta on October 9, 1970. Shane participated in an autograph session for fans.

October 3, 1970 (Saturday) – Atlanta, GA – WQXI Studios (Paul Jones (01) – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Bobby
Shane over Cisco Grimaldo > the Assassins (01) (Assassin #1 (01) & Assassin #2 (01)) over Eduardo DeLynch & El Mongol > Paul
DeMarco over Karl Von Stroheim / Notes: This was taped for the “Atlanta TV Wrestling television program hosted by Ed Capral.
Homer O’Dell managed Von Stroheim.

October 3, 1970 (Saturday) Notes: The “Columbus Championship Wrestling program moved from WTVM Channel 9 to WRBL
Channel 3 on this date, with Jim Carlisle as the new host, replacing Jim Koger of WTVM. It was reported that when WTVM moved to a
new location, the feed from the Columbus Sports Arena was not strong enough, so Fred Ward and Ralph Freed negotiated a deal with
WRBL to carry the matches. Carlisle, who had no prior experience with the wrestling business, had also worked with WTVM previously,
and at one time during the late 1960s hosted the highest rated local program in Columbus. Dubbed “Blast Off with V-Man,
Carlisle, working as the title character, the show had a science fiction theme, with the V-Man urging “peace to the universe.

Kubla Khan over Bob Armstrong & Kevin Sullivan > Georgia Heavyweight Title Match: Buddy Colt* over Bobby Shane two falls to none to
retain the title > Columbus Heavyweight Title Match: Bill Dromo* and Paul DeMarco went to a draw at one fall each / Notes: Homer Oâ
€™Dell managed Akbar. Armstrong was in Shane’s corner for his match against Colt. The Dromo-DeMarco match was called a
draw in the third fall when referees Charlie Smith and Leon Ogle disagreed on which man re-entered the ring first on a ten count as they
both entered just as the count reached ten. As a result, the Columbus Heavyweight Title was held up pending a rematch on October 14,
1970. It is unclear as to how Dromo came to be recognized as champion. The last reference we have shows tournament matches on
July 22, 1970, in Columbus in what appears to have been a process to name the inaugural champion, but no results have been found.
Further, there is a note in the program for this card that Dromo had won the title in a tournament in September 1970, so it is unclear if the
July matches began a tournament that wasn’t completed until sometime in September.
