| 1970 OCTOBER: The exact date is unclear, but “Columbus Championship Wrestling” program moved from WTVM Channel 9 to WRBL Channel 3 during this month, with Jim Carlisle as the new host, replacing Jim Koger of WTVM. It was reported that when WTVM moved to a new location, the feed from the Columbus Sports Arena was not strong enough, so Fred Ward and Ralph Freed negotiated a deal with WRBL to carry the matches. Carlisle, who had no prior experience with the wrestling business, had also worked with WTVM previously, and at one time during the late 1960s hosted the highest rated local program in Columbus. Dubbed “Blast Off with V-Man”, Carlisle, working as the title character, the show had a science fiction theme, with the V-Man urging “peace to the universe”.
