| Georgia fans first saw Al 'Spider' Galento in January 1944, as he wrestled on Atlanta promoter Sammy Friedman’s final card before Paul Jones took over. Galento wrestled briefly for Jones that year, but it was 1947 before he became a regular among the top heels to have wrestled in the state, feuding with Al Massey, Bobby Roberts, Johnny Long, and Don and Red McIntyre over the two year run. Galento returned for a few matches in 1957 and 1958, but it was his mid 1960s runs that earned him major billing in Georgia again, especially when he became a partner to Mario Galento. Billed as brothers, they win the Southern Tag Team Title in 1965, and he also had held half of the Southeastern Tag Team Championship with Luke Graham as his partner in 1963. |
