| The second version of the Anderson brothers to make their mark in Georgia were Ole and Gene. They first appeared in a tournament for the Georgia Tag Team Title in September 1973. Although they lost, the title did not elude them for long. They first won the belts when they returned the following year, and went on to do so many more times during the 1970s. Their fist true long term run in for Georgia Championship Wrestling began in April 1974, and they remained in the area for most of that year. However, when they returned in 1976, their dominance was realized, as they feuded with all the top babyface teams that were put in front of them, such as Mr. Wrestling #1 & #2, as well as Dick Slater, Dusty Rhodes and Thunderbolt Patterson, who each used many different partners against the Andersons. They also were often recognized as World Tag Team Champions during their appearances here. Gene left the territory for short stints, but would always return to Ole’s corner. However, he suffered a stroke in the early 1980s that left him unable to return to form. Their final run in Georgia occurred during the fall of 1981. The two briefly teamed in again for Championship Wrestling from Georgia and Jim Crockett Promotions in 1985 before Gene retired from the business. |
