| You cannot have a wrestling hall of fame if it does not include Jim Londos, and Georgia is no different. He wrestled here as early as 1918, and appeared here in a match as late as 1952. Over that span of thirty-four years, Londos came to the state often, mostly during John Contos’ era as Atlanta promoter during the late 1920s. He faced the top men in the sport here, including matches with Joe Stecher, Stanislaus Zbyszko, Pete Sauer, Dick Daviscourt, Jim Browning, and Wladek Zbyszko, during that period. As NWA World Heavyweight Champion in the 1930s, Londos met names like Daviscourt, Frank Judson, Paul Jones, Blue Sun Jennings, Ernie Dusek, Milo Steinborn, George Kotsonaros, Orville Brown, and George Zaharias on Georgia mats. |
