Fans who say that strongmen in wrestling began in the 1970s or 1980s have overlooked many before them, including Milo Steinborn.  Perhaps noted more as a showman than a wrestler, primarily as a result of the acts of strength he often performed prior to matches, Steinborn first began wowing Georgia crowds in 1930.  He was put up against all the top names, such as Jim Londos, Paul Jones, Pete Sauer, Dick Daviscourt, Stone Mountain Leavitt, Taro Myaki, and Ernie Dusek, getting victories in many of those bouts.  A match with Londos for the NWA World Heavyweight Title in 1933 set an attendance record for Ponce De Leon Ballpark in Atlanta, with some 8,000 witnessing the event.  Steinborn continued to spike attendance figures here throughout the 1930s, before eventually becoming a promoter in Florida.
