| Arthur ‘Tarzan’ White burst onto the Georgia scene in the mid 1940s, working mostly at that time in Savannah and Augusta prior to the Paul Jones territory development. In the 1950s, as Jones began taking control of the state, White was often brought in for short runs and one-shot bookings against the top heels, including Tom Mahoney, Babe Zaharias, and Art Nelson, where he was used in much the same was Bill Watts was utilized here during the late 1970s and early 1980s, in an enforcer role. He beat Nelson in September 1952 for the Southern Heavyweight Title. White continued to return to the state throughout the 1950s and 1960s, making his final appearances in Fred Ward’s portion of the territory in 1964. |
