| June 11, 2007 It’s time for the annual draft at WWE, which will be held on tonight’s broadcast of RAW. In an obvious attempt at driving up interest for ratings, they have announced that Jesse Ventura, Bobby Heenan, Mae Young, Gene Okerlund, Mick Foley, and the Fabulous Moolah will be in attendance, as well as Steve O (the guy from Jackass; not Olsonoski). It will also be Appreciation Night for Vince McMahon’s character, Mr. McMahon. Tuesday night’s scheduled guests on Trash Talking Radio are Koko B. Ware, Luscious Latasha, and C.J. Lawless. Tito Santana was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend. Click here for an article. Killer Kowalski is among inductees being honored by the Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday. Les Thatcher will be presenting a training seminar in Detroit, MI, on June 23. Email for info if you are interested in attending. Mike Mooneyham wrote the first of a series of columns on Ivan Koloff. Click here for the first edition. Turnbuckle Promotions has advertised a wrestling convention, set for August 24-25, to be held at Sportime in Lynbrook, NY. Among those being advertised are Roddy Piper, Sid Vicious, Christian Cage, Kevin Nash, Dory Funk, Jr., Terry Funk, Jimmy Valiant, Johnny Valiant, Lou Albano, Vince Russo, Ivan Putski, J.J. Dillon, Tully Blanchard, Larry Zbyszko, Tito Santana, Doink the Clown, Romeo Roselli, Christy Hemme, April Hunter, Francine, Missy Hyatt, Goldylocks, Dawn Marie, and Talia Madison. K&S Wrestlefest has planned a fan event for Charlotte this summer. Advertised at this time are Kamala, One Man Gang, Mick Foley, and Skandor Akbar. Over at GWTK, the Hollywood Brunettes (Kyle Matthews & Andrew Alexander) have been chosen as May’s Wrestlers of the Month. They had a very impressive month with appearances in quite a few promotions, including GWP, where they reign as the tag team champions currently – and NWA Anarchy. Results from the WWA4 show in Atlanta on June 7: Darkstar over the Buzzcut Baby; Lucia over Amien Ross by DQ; the Widowmaker over Big Nasty; Chris Deal lost the WWA4 title to Amien Ross in a three-way that also included Cameron Valentine; and Mason & Devin Cutter over Weesy Woo & Tex to retain the WWA4 tag team title. Friday night’s AWA World-1 South show in Savannah is advertising the Honky Tonk Man. We mentioned last week that Tuesday’s All-Star Championship Wrestling card in Carrollton had been pushed back to July. The promoter has since put out quite an ambitious set of dates, including Thomaston (July 16 at the Civic Center), Carrollton (July 17 at the Fairgrounds), and Americus (July 18 at the Fairgrounds). It also seems that dates will be forthcoming for July 19-21, but no firm announcements as of this writing. Names already advertised are Tony Atlas, Tommy Rich, Jake Roberts, Ricky Morton, and Greg Valentine. At the conclusion of their debut show in Carrollton last month, it was announced that Bobby Eaton and the Masked Superstar would also be scheduled, but it is unclear at this time if they will be a part of this set of dates. |
