If you saw Monday night’s broadcast of
RAW, live from Wilkes-Barre, PA, you saw what appeared to be the demise of Vince McMahon at the close of the program.  Obviously it was a work, and will only later prove to be either the most brilliantly staged angle or just the beginning of another horrible storyline.  Some fans seem to be caught up in the kayfabe, with Wilkes-Barre Times Leader writer Joe Soprano asking that fans stop emailing him about it, because “if McMahon had been killed last night at the arena, it would have been reported on more than just professional wrestling Web sites.  The county coroner would have been called to the arena, along with a slew of law enforcement officials.  You see, when someone is killed in an explosion these days, it usually draws a lot of interest.  So if you are really that interested in McMahon's fate, stay tuned to WWE broadcasts.”  The WWE website today has a story about it as if it were real.  If you did not see the show, click here to see what happened.

Although more moves are expected later in the week, last night’s draft process was the most entertaining yet, as they used the guise of match outcomes as the determining factor of which brand earned selections.  There were some great matches, with the most surprising having John Cena and Edge battling in the opener.  Other spectacular matches included MVP against Santino Marella and Bobby Lashley versus Chris Benoit.

The program, which ran three hours, is receiving high praise as being the most entertaining in quite some time, and it mostly revolved around the action in the ring, and some great clips from people such as Bobby Heenan, Bret Hart, Donald Trump, Roddy Piper, Steve Austin, Bob Costas, Mae Young, and the Fabulous Moolah speaking about McMahon on Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night.  The segment with Young and Moolah was perhaps the only downside to the program.

Moves made last night were Lashley and Gene Snitsky (from
ECW to RAW), with Lashley having to relinquish the title; Mr. Kennedy and King Booker (from SmackDown to RAW); Chris Benoit and the Boogeyman (from SmackDown to ECW); and Ric Flair, Chris Masters, Torrie Wilson, and the Great Khali (from RAW to SmackDown.  The supplemental draft is scheduled for Sunday.

Former – albeit briefly in 2005 – WWE diva Lauren Jones is the latest wrestling celebrity to enter the reality television realm.  This story describes how she is causing internal strife among the news community, most directly in Tyler, TX, where
Anchorwoman is being filmed for the Fox Network, set to debut in August.  Jones, most recently one of “Barber’s Beauties” on the Price is Right, will be co-anchoring the news on KYTX, the local CBS affiliate.

Among the comedic points of the story is that she is going through “intensive training in how to read a teleprompter”, and a VP from competing Tyler station
KLTV, an ABC affiliate, said "One of the last sacred grounds of integrity in local television is the local newsroom, so I guess I would say I'm disappointed to see a station, much less one in our own community, that has evidently sold its integrity.”  It is most likely that she learned how to read a teleprompter for WWE, considering it is all scripted, and the fact that someone believes that any mainstream news outlet these days has any integrity is hilarious.  Click here for the full story.

Live local wrestling this week includes events from the
WWA4 (Thursday in Atlanta); AWA World-1 South (Friday in Savannah); Georgia Independent Wrestling Alliance (Saturday in Milledgeville); Great American Wrestling Federation (Saturday in Americus); NWA Anarchy (Saturday in Cornelia); and WWE (Sunday in Columbus and Monday in Savannah).  The WWA4 events, held every Thursday, are free to attend.  World-1 is advertising the Honky Tonk Man for their Savannah card, and the Anarchy show will be the last to build up their big quarterly card at Gainesville’s Georgia Mountain Center on June 23.  Click here for more info.

The promoter for Adrenaline Wrestling Foundation X has notified us that the debut show, previously announced for June 16 has been cancelled. A new date is being prepared, and we will announce it as soon as we have more info.

According to our records, the following will be celebrating birthdays in coming days: Jacques Rougeau and Vincent (Wednesday); Brad Armstrong, Chris Benoit, and Scott Norton (Friday); and Paul Jones and the Ultimate Warrior (Saturday).  We are looking to list these each week, so if you know of any not listed, please let us know.  Also, if you see any listed inaccurately, let us know about those, also.
