Both Konnan and Ron Killings opted to leave
TNA just prior to the television tapings in Orlando Tuesday night.  They will both be wrestling in Mexico for AAA.

A story has broken that Jerry Lawler is facing charges for assault, and is expected to be served on July 20 when he returns for a show in Tunica, MS.  It has been alleged that he hit Sal Corrente, acting as his manager for the show, twice, and Corrente is pressing charges.  The initial court date is being reported as August 1, but if this ever sees the inside of a courtroom, it may be the strangest case ever in professional wrestling.

From the “Nobody In Their Right Mind Twenty-Five Years Ago Would Have Predicted It Without Being Laughed At” department, Vince McMahon is slated to be among several others to be added to the
Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

In the wake of the passing of Sherri Martel, another great tribute has been posted at
Slam! Wrestling, this time by Mike Lano.  Click here for the article.

Chuck Thornton, the man behind much of the material seen and not-yet-seen here on GWH, passed along the sad news that his mother passed away this morning. I know my family will be keeping Chuck and his family in our thoughts and prayers, much as he did for me when my father passed last summer.

We also just discovered that Jay West's father passed away last week, too. Our thoughts are with Jay and his family, Jay.

As a member who comes from a family full of firefighters, I want to personally ask everyone to keep the families, friends, and colleagues of the nine men from the
Charleston (SC) Fire Department who died Monday night.  I never entered that line of work, but I learned long ago to respect anyone who will not hesitate to walk into harm’s way to save a total stranger.  Obviously the families will be taken care of as much as possible, but my own experiences show that it is not always adequate.  If you would like to donate to the families, click here for information on how you can help.

An exclusive interview
Larry Goodman conducted with Jody Hamilton has been posted.  Click here for the full interview.  The primary theme is discussing his period as the head of Deep South Wrestling as a developmental territory for WWE, and the aftermath upon learning the partnership had ended.

Interestingly, the same day the interview is posted, Jody has allowed us to be the first to announce the show to re-launch DSW.  The return event will be at the Metro Auction Building (122 Cleveland Street) in Locust Grove, GA, on July 5.  Jeff Lewis will battle Austin Creed, as the NOW take on Phil Shatter & Truitt Fields in the double main event.  Also advertised are Brandon P, Simon Sermon, Brodie Chase, Murder One, Sal Rinauro, Andrew Pendleton III, Ryan Michaels, and Adrian Hawkins.  Bell time is set for 7:30 PM.  Their site isn’t back up to full speed yet, but we have no doubt that “Mrs. Scrappy McGowan” will have it running smoothly soon.

Jody has also posted on the DSW site that he is selling the actual worn white sequined mask he used during the infamous El Santo / Dusty Rhodes angle in Florida, as well as the actual worn full-length gold sequined cape and a matching mask from the peak days of the famous Assassins tag team.  Both items are being made available at a cost of $1,100.00, plus shipping.  If you are interested,
email Jody.

Another late addition to the cards we listed for this week on Tuesday is an Alternative Pro Wrestling event Friday in Royston, GA, at the Royston Gym.  The starting time was not provided.

NWA Anarchy promoter Jerry Palmer has notified us that their show Saturday at the Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville will be a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Much like we are doing all we can to advertise for current Georgia promotions on our site, we would also like to extend an offer to local wrestlers as well.  We can do one of two things to help provide additional exposure to you: 1) If you have a website, please send us a link, as well as the photo you feel best represents you currently. We will use that photo as a banner link to your site, or 2) If you do not have a website, but would like to have your contact info listed for potential employers to reach out to you, please send us the photo you feel best represents you currently, along with contact information for promoters to reach you. If down the road you should develop a website, or your contact info should change, please let us know so we may update it for you.  All submissions should be
emailed to us. We will then place them in the Current section on our website.
