| June 26, 2007 WWE Reactions to Unfolding Events Surrounding Benoit Family Tragedy In the aftermath of the press conference earlier today, steroid use has become the hot topic among the mainstream media, despite toxicology results not even being completed. It appears that since an unspecified amount of steroids were found in the Benoit home, that the media has determined this could be the only possible cause for the murders. WWE has countered by saying that it is premature to make such a determination. It also has issued a statement reporting that Benoit passed his most recent independently administered drug test on April 10, 2007. Vince McMahon is slated to appear on tonight’s live broadcast of ECW, in what is said to be a public apology for airing a three-hour tribute to Benoit Monday night. Some media outlets are deriding WWE for doing so, but it was not known at the time the program aired exactly what had happened inside the home. All of the merchandise a fan could have purchased last night at this time to show support of Benoit has been made unavailable on the company’s website since the investigators conclusions have been released. |
