“In light of the recent suicide of professional wrestler Chris Benoit, Real Sports revisits the disturbing trend of professional wrestlers dying at a young age. Over the last decade, a host of wrestlers have died before the age of 45. Some died from injuries sustained in the ring, others from drug overdoses, and still others from complications caused by years of steroid and drug use. Often, young athletes lured to the industry by the promise of fame and fortune discover a truly lonely existence instead. On the road for as many as 300 days a year, with no job security, and performing in spite of debilitating pain, they can often spiral into depression and drug use. With some in the business saying that the industry is the one to blame, Correspondent Armen Keteyian examines why this trend has continued and what is being done to stop it.
