John Meek Dead at 52
We have learned that John Meek was the victim of a hit-and-run attack while riding his motorcycle on August 29 around 3:00 AM in
Riverview, FL. After being thrown from the bike, he was rushed to Tampa General Hospital, but died a short time later.
Harry Taylor was identified as the driver of the car that struck Meek’s motorcycle shortly after the two left a parking lot at a local bar. It
is unclear as to whether witnesses led police to Taylor or if he turned himself in, but he has reportedly admitted to authorities at the
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department that he had seven beers at the bar.
Taylor, currently in jail without bond, is being charged with vehicular homicide, as well as leaving the scene of an accident where a death
was involved. A background check on Taylor indicates he previously served a twelve-year sentence for second degree murder, grand
theft auto, and grand theft in connection to a robbery in Marion County.
