07/05/2010 – World Wrestling Entertainment RAW TV Results from 7/5 in Nashville

From Rich Tate:

World Wrestling Entertainment’s results and highlights from the live RAW broadcast for the USA Network on July 5 from the Bridgestone
Arena in Nashville, TN:

The show opened with the Nexus, including Wade Barrett, in the ring awaiting their fate following last week’s attack on the legends.
Barrett spoke briefly, but Skip Sheffield got most of the air time, saying they did Ricky Steamboat a favor, helping him sell more DVDs.
Michael Cole relayed an email from the GM which stated no Nexus member would be allowed a title shot, and the ban on contact
between RAW and Nexus was lifted.

John Cena interrupted and said it was time for a fair fight, and brought out Randy Orton, John Morrison, Evan Bourne, R-Truth, and the
Hart Dynasty. As they began toward the ring, they were attacked from behind by Chris Jericho, Ted DiBiase, Jr., Edge, Sheamus, the Miz,
and the Usos, while Nexus disappeared. As the heels head back up the ramp, Cena and Orton questioned why they would not stay
aligned with their side against Nexus, and Sheamus explained that it seems Nexus only has a beef with Cena, so they shouldn’t be
anyone else’s concern. After Orton challenged the heels to come back down and fight, Cole relayed another message from the GM,
saying all money-in-the-bank match competitors would face off tonight, and that Cena and Barrett would meet in the ring to call a truce
between RAW and Nexus.

DiBiase, Jr., went over Morrison after Maryse, who sat in on commentary with Cole and Jerry Lawler, distracted Morrison by putting on his
fur coat at ringside. Maryse had made a point to mention that she and DiBiase were in love, and at one point Cole asked if she was a
gold digger.

Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella were shown backstage prior to their match against William Regal and the Great Khali. Kozlov
threatened to punch Marella in the face if he lost the match for their team. Kozlov & Marella went over Regal & Khali when Kozlov pinned
Regal. Khali, who never even tagged into the match, laid out Regal post-match, much to the enjoyment of Ranjin Singh.

Lawler did a short promo commenting on last week’s Nexus attack, basically saying they were the actions of punks. Josh Matthews was
then shown backstage with Arn Anderson, who also talked about last week’s incident and played up Steamboat being hurt. Sheamus
interrupts, and Anderson says Sheamus needs to get on the same page as the rest of the RAW locker room, but Sheamus says Nexus
knows better than to mess with him. Anderson ended up walking away when he couldn’t get through to Sheamus.

A match between R-Truth and the Miz never even got started, as Miz hammered Truth with a mic before the bell and continued a
beatdown outside the ring. Truth had to be helped to the back.

Edge, for the Cutting Edge segment, says he should align himself with Nexus rather than be their enemies, offering his services to them
to provide guidance. He then introduced Bourne, only to instead have Jericho come out. Jericho took exception to Edge saying he should
lead Nexus since Jericho himself was Barrett’s mentor on NXT. After both traded insults, Edge took a shot at Jericho and a brawl
ensued. Bourne came out an got into it with both of them, but he retreated when they both went after him. Cole then relayed another
message for the GM, making an immediate match, pitting Jericho & Edge against Bourne & Orton.

After Jericho and Edge showed reluctance to tag and work together, Edge eventually left Jericho on his own. Bourne & Orton went over
when Bourne got the pin on Jericho. After Bourne celebrated, Orton laid Bourne out with the RKO.

Afterward, Orton was met backstage by Nexus members David Otunga, Michael Tarver, and Heath Slater. Nexus said they had no beef
with Orton, and suggested they could instead help him win the WWE Title if he can win his MITB match. He listened and then told them to
go away.

Cole and Lawler said that as a result of Miz’s attack earlier on Truth, Truth will be unable to compete at MITB, opening up a spot in the
RAW match.

Matthews announced backstage that the Dynasty would defend the WWE World Tag Team Title against the Usos at MITB. The Usos,
joined by Tamina, were shown, and Tamina insulted Matthews. They promised that after next week, everyone would know what the Usos
were all about. When they left, Matthews was joined by Alicia Fox, who wanted to know why she had not been interviewed since winning
the WWE Divas Title, and went on to promise to show at MITB her win was not a fluke. She then went over Eve Torres to retain the title
after faking an injury which caught Torres and the referee off guard.

An Orton vs. Edge match was announced for next week.

Cena and Barrett came out to the ring for the mandated truce. Barrett told Cena it was never about him, and the best thing he could do
was to go through with a truce or suffer the consequences of how bad it could really get. Cena mocked a handshake, but pulled his back.
After some taunting of his own, Barrett insisted he shake his hand or realize how bad things could be. Cena shook his hand, but instead
used it as leverage to pick him up for a slam, only to be swarmed by the other Nexus members. Coming to Cena’s rescue were Bourne,
Morrison, Khali, Marella, Goldust, Kozlov, the Dynasty, Yoshi Tatsu, and Mark Henry, forcing Nexus to retreat.

Cole then relayed yet another message from the GM, saying it needed to stop now. Instead, Cena went after Darren Young, who was still
in the ring. The GM then relayed another message through Cole, saying that as a result of Cena’s actions and refusal to stop, he will face
Nexus in a handicap match next week. Cena then went nuts and beat down Young until the show came to and end.
