01/01/2012 – Empire Wrestling News and Notes
From Empire Wrestling:
Miss Rachael and Marty Freeman of EMPIRE declared that the league is now known
as EMPIRE (in all capital letters), and that any wrestler who has physical contact with
another outside of the context of a match will be suspended.
The main event was one of the most facinating and bizarre main events in EMPIRE
(and Platinum Championship Wrestling) history. EMPIRE champion Shane Marx won
the first fall in dominating fashion, knocking out Terry Lawler with a brutal running
knee. Terry Lawler surprised the dominant champion with a small package as the
second fall began. The EMPIRE took their shots at Terry, rendering him helpless and
handcuffed against the ropes. As Marx took the EMPIRE title and went to, in his words
"Kill PCW" by striking down Lawler, the lights went out. When they came back on,
Terry was out of the handcuffs and disappeared entirely. The lights went out again,
and when they came up "Do Or Die" Chip Day was standing behind Marx in Terry's
signature Captain America jersey with his fists taped up ala Terry Lawler. Day raised
his fists to the thunderous cheers of the fans, then he and Marx proceeded to beat
each other. The entire roster emerged to watch the fight. The entire packed audience
followed the wrestlers to the lobby of the Academy Theater, where everyone formed a
ring in which Marx and Day could fight it out. After a series of hellacious kicks to one
another, Day dropped Marx to his knees to the delight of the rabid crowd. As Day went
to level the EMPIRE champion with a buzzsaw kick, "Dynomite Soul" stepped out of
the crowd and dropped Day with a wicked kendo stick shot. The scene was chaos as
everybody brawled with everyone to the back, back to the ring, in the parking lot and
throughout the lobby. An amazing end to 2011.
Seth Delay was suspended for striking Nemesis. The single punch that leveled
Nemesis was one of the most dramatic seen, as Nemesis could not get up for quite
some time.
Hayden Young's impromptu Platinum Royal win was said to be null and void by Miss
Rachael because it wasn't a sanctioned match. When Young protested, EMPIRE
made a match between Hayden Young and Dany Only for the Masquerade on January
12, with a winner to get a title shot of their choosing. Only (who has a legitimate Royal
win and title shot) did not seem to be happy about this.
Mr. Xictement's suspension was lifted and he will wrestle Champion Shane Marx for
the EMPIRE title at the Masqerade on Jan. 12.
Walker's attack on Day was shocking, but in retrospect with the fans always being
lukewarm towards him, it seemed like only a matter of time before the often
emotional Walker would snap. Further news on the status of Walker, his possible
affiliations, etc. were not known.
Matches announced for The Masquerade on January 12 are as follows:
A Gorilla Games match between all of the Konkrete Gorillaz (Nemesis, Brian Blaze,
Aesha and Geter) taking on Jay Fury, The Washington Bullets and Pandora.
Marx vs. Mr. Xcitement for the EMPIRE title.
Only vs. Young with the winner earning a title shot.
In a Dream Match, Frankie Valentine takes on Supernatural.
In another Dream Match, Big Wood the Lumberjack takes on Sylar Cross in a battle of
the big men.
Rookie phenom Fred Yehi takes on the red hot Phantom (who has scored wins over
Nemesis and Only in the last two weeks).
