I am a promoter.  What can Georgia Wrestling History do for my promotion?

Georgia Wrestling History, as of the end of February 2008, is accessed daily by an average of 1,600 different computers, and monthly by an average of over 3,800.  In addition, GWH creates a daily report called Georgia Wrestling News, Notes, and Nostalgia that is distributed to all of the major wrestling news sites, as well as posted on the heaviest hit message boards, all of which bring even further exposure.  Although we cannot guarantee to attract more fans to your events, we can promise people all over the world are familiar with your promotion and talent pool.

If GWH cannot help me attract a larger crowd, why should I bother?

It is true that a majority of the audience at a wrestling event don’t take the time to concern themselves with following the Internet, but the Internet audience plays a large part in spreading the word if they do follow your group, as they are the most passionate fans, and the most likely to bring friends with them if they want to help support your promotion.

Maybe, but we have our own website, and it hasn’t helped us, so again, why bother?

The reason GWH is a better tool than your own website is because we reach a wider audience overall, whereas your site is mostly driven to just your group.  Only your most hardcore fans even know you have a site, and we can help drive more people to it for you.

This sounds great, but what’s the catch, and how much is this going to cost me?

The only catch is that if you don’t utilize GWH to help, the guarantee is you are missing out on expanding your reach.  The only cost is a few moments of your time to send an email now and then as applicable.

What if I don’t notice any growth of my audience after forming a relationship with GWH?

We can only guarantee people will know about you.  If we help draw five more people to an event than you drew at your last one, it is your responsibility to produce a product that tempts them to return.

OK.  So what do we need to do to be featured on GWH?

If we do not have a link to your promotion
here, it is only because we are unaware of your group.  If you are in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, central or eastern Tennessee, central or northern Florida, or southern or western portions of North Carolina, we want to include your promotion.  Feel free to send us an email with the name of your promotion, the name of the promoter(s), contact info for said promoter(s) (phone number and email address), and a link to your website, if applicable.  We will then assign a GWH rep for you to send future information to for the purpose of helping provide further exposure for your promotion.

What do we need to do to be mentioned in your News and Notes?

We do not mind linking up to your promotion here, but it is our goal to assist providing more exposure for your group by keeping fans abreast of any pertinent information you want them to know about your group.  Feel free to send your GWH rep an email of any information you wish to make public to fans or potential fans.  This can include, but is not limited to, event announcements, event results, etc., which is covered below.

How do I get my next event added to your listing of Upcoming Events?

As mentioned above, you are encouraged to send your GWH rep an email as soon as you have scheduled an event.  Once we have received this information, an article will be drafted by your GWH rep and posted in our News and Notes section, as well as in our Upcoming Events, which links back to the article.  On the date of the event, we will again post an article in our News and Notes, updating the link in the Upcoming Events, so that fans have two different ways of knowing about your event, and are reminded of the details on the day of the event.

What information do you need to post an announcement of my events?

When you have scheduled an event and have all the details ready to make public, send an email to your GWH rep, including the following information: the promotion name; the date of the event; the name and address of the venue (street address, city, and state); time the doors open, and bell time; a contact phone number for fans to contact if they have questions or desire more information; tickets prices; matches, in order from main event to opener, if known at that time; if matches are not set, please include names of talent that is scheduled to appear; and any further information pertinent to the event.  Please note that we cannot possibly keep up with everything, so if there is a title match, please indicate the name of the title and who is defending the title.  As well, we cannot possibly know all of the talent, so please be sure to indicate the members of a tag team who has a gimmick name both under the team name and their individual names; for example, please list it as “the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton)”.  By doing this, the individuals will be properly credited as we document their careers going forward.  A template you can use for this is below:

If I run a set schedule, such as weekly at the same venue and time, do I need to send this each time?

We used to list events many months in advance, and ran into a few problems toward the end of 2007, whereas some promotions did not let us know they had opted out of some dates for events around the holidays. Because no one contacted us, we still had those dates listed, and received a few angry emails from fans that went to the venue only to find the doors locked. Thus, we have made a decision to only list what is sent to us. Thus, if you do not email us with the above info, and follow up with any changes that may arise, we will not advertise your events. As well, since the matches would be different for each event, and the talent pool would be at least slightly different with each event, it helps us let fans know what they can expect at the event.

Is that all I need to do?

Well, yes, but in return for us helping you, we also ask that you help us.  Our primary goal is to document the business to preserve the history for future generations to look back upon, as we have learned that the wrestlers of yesterday greatly appreciate that we have archived their histories.  Just as they appreciate it, so, too, will you and your talent pool when they want to look back and read about the past.

So what do you need for me to do to preserve the history of my promotion?

Again, sending your GWH rep an email with the results of your events is all we need.  This information should include the following: the promotion name; the date of the event; the name and location of the venue (city and state); matches and outcomes, in order from opener to main event; referees used; attendance; and any further information pertinent to the event.

So, that’s it?

All we ask is that you please add a link to our site at yours, and try to make a mention of us at your events whenever possible.  Although we reach a lot of people, we believe there are many people out there who would enjoy our site that simply do not know about us.  We do not make money, but to know that people find out about us and visit our site, lets us know that our efforts are appreciated.

I heard you have a radio show.  How can our promotion be mentioned there?

As long as we receive the aforementioned information, we work your group into our recaps of events from the past week, as well as plug upcoming events for the next week.  If we know about it, it will be mentioned on the air during the course of
Peach State Pandemonium.

Can you provide us with any info about the attempts to regulate wrestling in Georgia?

If you are unaware of what your promotion needs to do to operate legally under the presently existing laws to promote a wrestling event in Georgia, or are not aware of the latest attempts to tighten regulations on wrestling in our state, please contact Bill Behrens
via email.  Behrens is heading the battle to help save the future of pro wrestling in our state, and will make certain you are kept up-to-date, well-informed, and help you to be sure your promotion is operating within the law as it stands.  One thing we can provide is the current form for licensure, which is to be applied for annually, accompanied by a $100.00 payment each year.  Click here for that form.

If I still have questions, what should I do?

Email Rich Tate, or your assigned GWH rep for any further assistance.
