NWA Anarchy’s Holiday Havoc was a good show. It had lots of solid matches and very few low points. What it lacked, were the magical moments that characterized the best of the big shows Cornelia has seen over the past 7 years. It felt like a transitional show, and with good reason, as Anarchy is gearing up for it’s debut as a syndicated television wrestling program.

NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer opened the show by acknowledging the winners in various categories of the GeorgiaWrestling.tk fan poll.

(1) Hayden Young & Ken Westbrooks beat Crazy K & Dexter Poindexter in 11:06

This match had some hot moves but the lack or role clarity hurt. They all worked an athletic babyface style. K was heelish with his trash talk. He made fun of Young’s spray on suntan. Poindexter is just a geek. Got to give him credit for developing a strong character. Rather than sustained heat, this match was punctuated by teenage girls shrieking for individual moves. K pie-faced Young. They swapped silent chops. The crowd popped for Poindexter’s stinging back chop. K and Poindexter did some flashy double teaming. K put Young in a wacky submission. Westbrook made a blind tag and caught Poindexter with a rabbit lariat. Poindexter got really vocal as his leg was being worked on. Poindexter hit a swank neckbreaker variation and hot-tagged K. K snapped Young off the top rope with a huracanrana and he landed on top of Westbrooks. K and Poindexter gave Young a double 619 and Westbrooks saved. Westbrook took K out of the match with a germans suplex. K took a full rotation bump. Westbrooks gave Poindexter a super belly to belly suplex, and Young finished the job with an amazing forgsplash. Pound for pound, I doubt there are many young wrestlers in the US with more raw ability than Young or K.

(2) Jeff Lewis defeated Slim J to regain the NWA Anarchy TV Title in 7:44

Lewis (voted Heel of the Year) was greeted with the chant of “Overrated.” Lewis jumped J (Cruiserweight of the Year) before the bell, and J took a bump over the top rope. Lewis mauled J at ringside. Back inside, Lewis applied a bridging reverse chinlock that severely damaged J’s neck. Lewis unleashed a relentless attack on the neck. Great heat. J’s selling was tremendous. J rallied with windmill punches. J applied a reverse STF. J double stomped the stuffing out of Lewis but went down clutching at his neck. Lewis kicked out of the delayed cover. J scored with a looping punch and followed up with a dropkick. Lewis appeared to be dead weight but he was playing possum. Lewis crushed J with the Final Curtain. Lewis made a standing one foot cover. At the count of two, Lewis shook his head no. Lewis scraped J up and glazed him with a second Final Curtain. J laid in the ring for a long time gasping for breath and looking quite concussed. As security started to drag him to the back, J made like James Brown in the 60’s and rose from his comatose state.

(3) The Guys That Totally Rule (Seth Delay & “Precious” Patrick Bentley) beat Salvatore Rinauro & Tony Mamaluke in 21:25

Rinauro cut a promo on Guys. Rinauro claimed that after carrying Delay on his “ever so broad back” for four years and busting him hump for The Guys, those lackeys had the nerve to attack him from behind the last time he was in Cornelia. Rinauro said now he had a REAL partner and no amount of hillbilly feet stomping or dirty hands clapping was going to save them. The crowd Rinauro bitch slapped the hell out of Delay. Delay returned the favor. The wrestling between Rinauro and Delay was really smooth. Mamaluke said he wanted “the pretty boy.” This wasn’t as good. Bentley’s inexperience showed through at a number of points. Mamaluke complained about hair pulling. Mamaluke grabbed the hair of ref Brent Wiley to demonstrate, and Wiley shoved him into Bentley’s roll up, just like Flair used to do with Tommy Young back in the day. The babyface shine lasted past the 10 minute mark. The tide turned when Rinauro tossed Delay out for some wicked looking shots into the rail from Mamaluke. Rinauro did a 10 count hanging suplex. Mamaluke hit his high angle back suplex. Rinauro choked Delay with his wrist tape. The former ROH tag champs kept taking advantage of Bentley’s temper by drawing him into the ring, so they could inflict more punishment on Delay. Delay finally hit the Kool Krusher to set up the hot tag. The finishing sequence was hot. Rinauro took a backdrop and backdropped his own partner. Guys gave Rinauro a double backbreaker and Mamaluke saved. Mamaluke and Rinauro spiked Bentley with a double team piledriver and Delay saved. Delay hit a flip dive onto Mamluke. Bentley debuted an awesome new finisher, a lightening speed forward rolling cradle bomb. Postmatch, Sal showed there were no hard feelings towards Guys. He hugged Guys and raised their hands.

(4) Todd Sexton beat Jimmy Rave in 21:25

This was different. Rave stalled and got the classic Cornelia “wimp” chant. Rave doesn’t look much like the skinny kid that walked into this building 6 years ago. Lots of crowd interaction here. Rave finally allowed himself to be subjected to a burst of Sexton’s offense. Rave decided he didn’t want to wrestle and walked up the ramp. The ref counted him out at 6:20. Sexton got on the mic and goaded Rave into continuing the match. Accused him of kissing a guy. Said he was surprised that Rave had switched to tights since he had no balls. Rave said he was coming out, but it was Michael Adryan that appeared on the ramp. Rave came from the back door entrance to club Sexton in the head and pin him with a superkick at 8:27. Palmer introduced himself to Rave. Palmer said he didn’t know how they did things in the Northeast, but in Cornelia that made it one apiece, so he was ordering a third fall to decide it. Good back and forth action the rest of the way. Rave heeled, like he does in the Northeast. Sexton fired back with uppercut forearms. Rave hit a jumping knee and got a two count with a northern light suplex. Sexton hit a tope. Rave used a rabbit lariat but Sexton was in the ropes. Double down on a nice collision spot. They traded near falls. Sexton applied The Stretch. Rave came back with a spear for a near fall. Rave flew off the top and missed by a mile. Sexton got the sharpshooter but Rave made the ropes. Rave brought a chair in. Referee Brent Wiley separated Rave from the chair, and Rave took a great bump off Sexton’s superkick to end it.

Sexton said Rave was an ass**** but he was also his best friend. Sexton called Rinauro and Mamaluke out the ring. Sexton said they were his best friends and he wanted to share the moment with them because it might be the last time they were all in the building on the same night.

(5) Onyx beat Jay Fury via submission in 9:10

This match was worked at a deliberate pace. Crowd was quiet but attentive. Onyx wasted no time brawling his way to a side headlock. Onyx recognized an incoming Jaytrix/Enzifury sequence and bailed out. Fury revved up an aerial assault. Onyx pulled the ropes down on Fury and grinned. Onyx posted Fury. Onyx continued his attack inside the ring. Onyx ducked a comeback strike and locked in Jamaica City Dreams. Fury would not submit. Jaytrix-Enzifury by Fury. Both men down for nine. Fury stepped through the ropes, hit an enzuigiri and followed with a slingshot legdrop. Onyx kicked out. Fury lit up Onyx’s back. Fury went to the top. Onyx shook the ropes to crotch him. Onyx reapplied Jamaica City Dreams and it was good night Fury.

(6) Pomp & Circumstance (Ace Rockwell & Shaun Tempers) beat Alabama Attitude (T. C. Carnage & Adam Roberts) and Urban Assault Squad (Shadow Jackson & Nemesis and Jeremy V & Jason Blackman in a four-way dance to win the NWA Anarchy tag titles (13:54)

Not the best wrestling but certainly the best heat. The UAS love is still strong. Blackman took heat from P & C. Blackman is a fearless bumper and his facial expressions crack me up. Tempers wanted Rockwell to hold Blackman’s foot for extra leverage. Rockwell ignored it. They argued and Blackman clubbed Tempers. Blackman and V took the opportunity to work on Rockwell’s back. V has found his true home as a heel with that repulsive and totally slimy attitude of his. Rockwell tried a high crossbody, but Blackman dropped it into a backbreaker. Blackman stayed on the back with hard whips into the corner. Rockwell reversed whip number three and tried a springboard move, but Blackman cut him down a bicycle kick. Attitude got in the act. Rockwell sold a hanging vertical suplex from Roberts like his back was on fire. Rockwell blocked V’s VKO and countered with a spinebuster. Great spot. UAS started brawling with the Alabamians. In the confusion, Rockwell pinned Blackman with an O’Connor roll. Tempers celebrated like it was all about him. It was obvious that he and Rockwell are no longer on the same page.

(7) Devil’s Rejects (Iceberg & Azrael with Dan “The Dragon” Wilson & Dominous) beat Brandon P & Kory Chavis in 13:13

Wilson, sporting bizarre heathenish face paint, reminded the fans that the Rejects were on a mission to destroy NWA Anarchy. Winning was a bonus. They were there to hurt people. Wilson advised Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer to quit the business while he still had his sanity and his family. “Smite the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.” Wilson called P a puppet. He ridiculed Chavis for wearing shiny britches and wanting the people’s support. Said Chavis had crapped in his bed and now he would be forced to sleep in it. Wilson claimed to have “sleeper cells” lined up with more volunteers for Devil’s Rejects. Major pop for the entrance of P and Chavis. A lengthy ringside brawl ensued. P and Chavis eventually got the upper hand and tried to take on Wilson’s giant bodyguard. Dominous shrugged off their attack. The action finally moved inside the ring where P hit an exploder suplex on Azrael for a near fall. Azrael ducked and P got coldcocked by Iceberg. P was pretty awesome as the face-in-peril. He took an agonizing beating where he bled hardway from the mouth. Azrael landed a haymaker that appeared to put P’s lights out. But it was one of those nights where P had the motivation dial turned all the way to the right. P hit a capture powerbomb. Wilson interfered with Chavis. Chavis chased Wilson around the ring. Just as Chavis caught up with the little devil, Azrael cut him off. Dominous capitalized on the distraction with a chokeslam on P. Iceberg and Azrael then pinned P with a double splash.

The postmatch turned into a four-on-two beatdown. Murder One entered the ring from the front door of the building. Rejects stopped what they were doing. M-1 didn’t join forces with Devil’s Rejects, but he didn’t attack them either. There was zero pop for this. I would like to think that people weren’t sure how to react to an ambiguous situation. M-1 gave a nod towards his former partner, Chavis, and departed.

(8) Mikal Adryan beat Chad Parham to retain the NWA Anarchy heavyweight title in 13:30

The story here was the gradual but relentless build of Parham’s comebacks against the seemingly invincible monster. Adryan used intimidation tactics. Parham tried to knot up Adryan’s thigh. Adryan cut him down with a Mafia kick and was in full command after a devastating top rope lariat. Adryan used the move of the night, the hangman neckbreaker. Adryan came out on top of a stiff exchange. Adryan hit a double underhook suplex into the buckles for a near fall. Parham won the struggle for a backslide. Adryan answered with freight train corner lariat. Adryan hit his backdrop neckbreaker for a near fall. Adryan goozled Parham for the chokeslam but Parham countered with a roundhouse kick. Speedy Nelson’s count reached nine. Parham decked Adryan with the fourth in a series of charging double thrusts. Adryan fought off a sharpshooter. Parham went for a reverse roll up. Adryan powered out, sending Parham flying into Nelson. Adryan tried for Assisted Suicide. Parham countered with a chop block and hit a senton backsplash, but no ref to count. PARHAM SUPLEXED ADRYAN OVER THE TOP ROPE TO THE FLOOR. The “Holy s***” chant that followed was only fitting for single most psychotic spot of the night. As Parham built up steam for a dive, Adryan grabbed a ladder that had conveniently been left at ringside and winged it at Parham. Adryan hit Assisted Suicide and Nelson reappeared to make the three count.

Adryan had Parham set up for a second Assisted Suicide when Sexton hit the ring. Adryan backed off. Palmer announced Adryan vs. Sexton for next Saturday IF Sexton agreed to Jeff G. Bailey’s stipulation: Sexton’s career would be on the line. Palmer asked Sexton to think about it. Sexton said yes. Adryan told Sexton it was the worst move of his life.
