The Thursday night Deep South Wrestling television taping at the Deep South Arena in McDonough, Georgia went down as follows.

Chris Rambola and Tommy Suede did the commentary for the dark matches.

(A) Matt Striker beat Heath Miller in 5:04

Striker slapped Miller at the start. Miller stormed back until Striker curled up in a little ball in the corner. Striker took over. At least his offense wasn’t the usual run-of-the-mill stuff. Miller’s comeback built to a hangman neckbreaker for a near fall. When Miller complained to ref Mike Posey, Striker clubbed him in the back. Striker used a series of face wash maneuvers for the pin.

(B) Bradley Jay beat Onyx in 4:22

Jay’s intro is gaining heat. Jay broke off a knuckle lock with a boot to the gut and focused his attack on the midsection of the former three-time NWA Wildside Heavyweight Champion. Onyx made a clubberin’ comeback capped off with a flying shoulderblock. But Jay tripped Onyx up as he ran the ropes. Jay used the Regal Roll as his finisher.

(C) Ray Gordy beat Antonio Mestre in 5:16

Gordy was introduced by yet another name that I couldn’t make out. Mestre’s Capoeira gimmick is history, as he came out with a Gameboy that he was reluctant to put down. Once the match got underway, Mestre was still all twitchy thumbs. Mestre reversed a Nirvana Strangle. They traded misses on gimmicky moves and then collided awkwardly. Gordy ducked a roundhouse, hit Jimmy Rave’s Disco 2000, and got the pin with the ATL. It’s a jazzed up legdrop that makes a lame finisher if you ask me.

(D) Freakin Deacon & Kevin Matthews beat Francisco Ciatso & Biohazard in 4:08

Deacon, the secret love child of Dewey Robertson and Frank Goodish, got the first major face pop of the night. Ciatso and Biohazard used chicanery to isolate Matthews and punish him with double teams. Matthews hit a double flying lariat and hot-tagged Deacon. Krissy Vaine ran out and got in Matthews’ ear. Matthews attacked Deacon. The heels joined in to make it a triple team. Deacon made a one-on-three comeback. Biohazard went down to defeat after feeling the breeze from a high furry boot.

Angel Williams and Kristal Marshall came out to do the merchandise drawing. Williams jumped down ring announcer Ted Guinness for failing to introduce her as the “Queen Diva.” Williams was great as the arrogant bitch from hell. She heeled on Marshall throughout the drawing.

Bill DeMott and Nigel Sherrod did the commentary for the television taping.

On the big screen, Derrick Neikirk read something on the bulletin board that upset him. He grabbed Quentin Michaels and marched him into the Assassin’s office.

Backstage promo by “The Alpha Male-Mr. Number One-Samoan Power” Cocky Siaki.

(1) Cocky Siaki beat Kenny Omega in 6:53

On a show that was lacking in strong heels, Siaki got the most heat of any of them. Omega got flippy on Mr. Number One. Siaki spit on him. Omega returned the favor. Siaki saw red and charged. Omega caught Siaki with a drop toehold and hit basement dropkick for a quick two. Omega did springboard backflip, but Siaki was ready with an overhead suplex into the turnbuckles. Siaki savaged Omega in the tree of woe. Siaki administed the dreaded back chops. It turned into a battle of sleeper holds. Omega ended it with a pair of jawbreakers. Omega connected with a spinkick. Both men down. Omega caught fire. Omega hit a jumping bulldog for big near fall. But when Omega went for one spinkick too many, Siaki planted him with a high speed powerslam out of the blue.

In a backstage promo, Danny Germundo said it was time to rethink his goals in DSW. Germundo was pissed about Johnny Parisi stealing a win with a foreign object. Germundo said he was going to end his match so quick that Mikal Adryan wouldn’t know what hit him.

(2) Danny Germundo beat Mikal Adryan in 2:57

Germundo got a modest pop. They brawled back and forth. Adryan hit a vertical suplex for a near fall. Germundo fired back with jabs, and Adryan took a great face bump on a haymaker. Germundo pinned Adryan with a half nelson face plant.

Germundo was immediately attack by Parisi, who laid him out with the Shaft. Parisi rudely unseated Guinness from his ringside seat, put Germundo’s hand on the ringsteps and whacked it with the chair. Ref Rob Russo said Germundo’s hand was broken.

We saw Quentin Michaels and Derrick Neikirk confronting Assassin in his office. Miz was there too. Michaels and Neikirk were questioning why Miz would get a title shot at the DSW title after being gone for five months. Couldn’t hear much of this, but apparently Neikirk and Michaels prevailed. Neikirk and Miz started to get into it. Assassin told them to save it for the ring.

Backstage promo by Eric Perez and MVP. Perez said they got screwed in the tag team tournament but now they were the number one contenders. MVP never got off his cell phone.

Backstage promo from High Impact. The crowd was too amped to make out what they were saying. They were wearing the newly minted DSW tag title belts. Then, Tracy Taylor held up both belts, which was a great excuse for a close up of her amazing cleavage.

(3) High Impact (Tony Santarelli & Mike Taylor with Tracy Taylor) beat Montel Vontavious Porter & Eric Perez (with Quentin Michaels) to retain the DSW tag titles in 10:17

High Impact owns the DSW Arena. The pop for their entrance was nuts. This match was smoking hot. It also had a nice symmetry to it, as they played off spots that had earlier worked to the heels advantage to set up the hot tag and the finish. Early on, Perez and MVP trapped Santarelli in their corner. Santarelli wisely jumped to the floor to escape. Perez and MVP caught Santarelli’s high crossbody attempt, so Taylor dropkicked his partner in the back to take them down. Big pop as the heels licked their wounds at ringside. MVP reached in and grabbed Santarelli’s leg to turn the tide. Santarelli took another wicked beating. The kids were chanting “Tony, Tony” like mad. Perez elbowed Taylor off the apron to prevent a tag. MVP applied an inverted Gori Especial. Santarelli tried to counter, but MVP cut him off with a back suplex for a near fall. Santarelli dropkicked Perez, who collided with Taylor. Santarelli went for a rolling reverse and the momentum from Perez’s kick out propelled Santarelli into Taylor. Taylor ran wild. Taylor hit his leg lariat supreme on MVP and Perez broke up the pin. Perez hit an X Factor type move on Taylor. The heels were setting Taylor up for their finisher, when Santarelli tripped up MVP. Taylor was able to roll up MVP to score the pinfall. The victory celebration was like High Impact had just won game seven of the NBA finals.

Backstage promo by Neikirk, who reminded the fans that he had already beaten Miz twice. Niekirk said Miz was a TV star, while he was an all-star athlete. Neikirk said Miz wasn’t in his league.

The crowd popped hard for the appearance of the Miz on the big screen. Miz said the wait was over and did some of his catch phrases. Again, very difficult to hear because of the crowd.

(4) The Miz pinned Derrick Neikirk in a non-title match at 6:06

Miz got the second biggest entrance pop of the night. Miz’s work has definitely improved during his time away from DSW. Miz bounced Neikirk around until he bailed. Miz threw Neikirk back in. But Neikirk was playing possum, as he nailed Miz with a beauty of a Saito suplex. Neikirk went to work on the back of Miz. It looked like Neikirk tweaked his knee as Miz started his comeback, and they went home early. Neikirk hit an STO. Neikirk hit an elbow drop off the middle rope and made a lazy back cover. Miz rolled him into a crucifix pin for the 1-2-3.

(5) “Outlaw” Mike Knox beat Rough House O’Reilly via DQ at 6:10

O’Relly placed third for best babyface pop. Knox is an intimidating physical force. Knox tossed O’Reilly through the ropes, and he took one hell of a nasty bump on the floor. O’Reilly struggled into the ring at the count of eight. Knox put the boots to him. Knox tried to destroy O’Reilly’s back. Knox dropped O’Reilly with a corner splash. Knox ripped one of the turnbuckle pads loose. While ref Mike Posey was putting it back in place, Knox untied another pad and smothered O’Reilly. He’s one crafty dude. O’Reilly roared back with a stiff lariat. O’Reilly hit a jumping knee and showed Hoganesque fire. O’Reilly started stomping the crap out of Knox in the corner. Posey tried to intervene. O’Reilly tossed Posey across the ring for the DQ. Knox looked pleased with himself.
