Great Championship Wrestling followed a hot night of wrestling action on Wednesday night with another tonight at the Great Skate Plex.
This was the second night this week that GCW drew over 200 people and the crowd did not leave disappointed. GCW’s biggest fan,
Chuck the Official Ring inspector was back after a couple months absence.
Billy Roper came out to kick the show off. He announced that the cruiserweight championship tournament would start tonight, that the
GCW tag titles and GCW Heavyweight title would be defended. He then introduced GCW Commissioner Bo Oates. Bo comes down and
thanks Billy for all his hard work. He tells Billy is the voice of GCW, no matter how much the other guy, former ring announcer Dan
Masters, keeps calling and begging for the job back. Oates then called GCW owner Diane Hewes to the ring and she presented Billy with
a trophy as a way to say thanks for his work.
Bo then said that GCW is on its way back to the old days, and if the crowds the past two nights are any indication, he maybe correct. He
then said that Scotty Beach was his favorite to win the GCW heavyweight title in the cage tonight. This brought out the GCW Heavyweight
Champion Johnny Swinger and Quentin Michaels. Michaels got on a mic saying that GCW has been in a sorry state of affairs. He said
that a convict named Disco Inferno returned to wrestle with David Young a couple months ago, that Death Row is murdering people in
the shower and he calls Bo Oates a thug. He said that the only reason Oates was commissioner is because Diane Hewes owed Oates
a favor. Guess Quentin forgot that his team cost him the commissionership. Bo gets in Quentin’s face, but he tells Bo that Bo canâ
€™t touch him and that he has a restraining order against him. Bo said that Michaels isn’t in charge anymore, but Quentin told him
that those that hold the gold hold the power. The crowd starts to chant “You Tapped Out to Swinger. Johnny gets on the mic and
says that he is being treated unfairly because he has to get into a steel cage twice in one week. Apparently the rocket scientist forgot that
his opponent would also be in the cage twice this week. But going on, Swinger said that he would be leaving the cage with the belt
tonight. Michaels Inc leaves and Bo announced that The NOW would be defending the tag titles against Bad Company, the best tag team
in wrestling today. Yes I said in wrestling. Not just GCW, not just in the Southeast, but also in wrestling period.
The first match of the evening is the first match in the cruiserweight championship tournament as the very popular Jonathan Davis takes
on the ####y and arrogant Randall Johnson. Now I’m not sure how Larry Goodman can say that Johnson added weight, I can’t
see it. I mean how skinny was this guy before. Johnson started the offense early, but Davis was able to counter a spinning toehold into a
small package. He then nailed Randall with a single arm leg sweep and quickly follows that up with a springboard headlock takeover.
Johnson soon started to fight back with a huge sidewalk slam. The then hits a Bossman slam and later locks in a standing Boston crab.
Later he whips Davis into the ropes and hits an over the knee backbreaker. Jonathan got a two count with he takes a head scissors
takeover and makes it into a small package. He then hits a 619 but before he can take advantage of it Randall hits him with the Celtic
Cross. Johnson then climbed to the top rope but ends up missing the flying leg drop. Now I’m exactly sure how the match ended, but
Davis won it with some kind of top rope splash. Winner and moving on in the cruiserweight tournament Jonathan Davis.
The next match was for the GCW tag team titles, as the tag team champions, The NOW, Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins, defended the
belts against former GCW tag team champions, David Young, Chris Stevens, known together as Bad Company. And when the Bad
Company music hits and Young and Stevens came out the crowd went crazy. Although truthfully the crowd was hot all night. Young and
Collins started the match and they began by exchange kicks to the hamstrings. David soon got the advantage and hits a springboard
spinning leg drop before tagging in Chris. Stevens went straight for Collins punching the NOW member down and then locking in a
hammerlock. Another quick tag by Bad Company, but Young was met with an eye rake by Collins who tagged in Dalishus. But Vik didnâ
€™t get any offense in as David hits an armdrag. The then tagged Stevens back in. Young whipped Vik into the ropes, tips him up and
Stevens hits a knee drop. Dalishus did get some offense in, but Chris knocked him out of his boots with a clothesline and he tagged
David back in. Vik rakes Young’s eyes and tags Collins in, but Hale is met with a trip up and locked in an armbar. David then tags
Chris into the match and Stevens locks Collins in an armbar/body scissors combo. But soon Hale starts to fight back, hitting Stevens
with forearms. He eventually tags in Vik and the NOW tries to do the double clothesline, but Chris ends up clotheslining both of them.
Stevens then tags David back into the ring. The NOW soon gets the advantage thanks to some illegal double-teaming. Dalishus then
comes in, without being tagged in and hits a neckbreaker and he quickly brings Hale back into the shot. Vik slingshots Young into the
ropes and back down over his knees. Then Collins came off the top rope with an elbow. Dalishus is tagged back in and the NOW hits the
double dropkick. Another quick tag by the NOW, and Hale locks in a one arm camel clutch. He then nailed clothesline and tagged in Vik.
Dalishus then tossed Young outside and Collins took some shots at him. Eventually Young gets back in the ring and makes the tag to
Stevens, but referee Jeff McGowan didn’t see the tag. Hale reenters the ring, without a tag and hits Young with a slam. I will still never
understand how come the ref always before the bad guys when they tell him that there was a tag but never the good guys. But after a
slam by Collins, Dalishus is tagged back in. Soon David was able to counter a running clothesline with a spinning sideslam. Both teams
make the tag and Stevens starts to clean house, hitting Vik with a powerslam. The NOW ends up clotheslining Bad Company and Young
and Dalishus go to the outside. Collins and Stevens starts to brawl in the ring and Vik gets one of the tag belts and nailed Chris with it.
But Hale could only get a two count. All four men are back in the ring and David sends Dalishus to the outside. Stevens whips Collins into
the ropes and Young nailed Hale with the spinebuster. McGowan makes the 3 count. Winners and new tag team champions, David
Young, Chris Stevens. Bad Company.
After the match, Chris gets the mic and asked if the crowd wants to hear Bad Company speak. The crowd went nuts. Stevens then laid
out a challenge to any tag team in the wrestling world. He doesn’t care where they are from, but if they want to face the best tag team
in wrestling today, then they should come to Phenix City, Alabama. Young gets the mic and says that Phenix City has the best and they
will keep the GCW tag titles for a long time.
The third match saw Amien Rios taking on the person that many consider the hardest workingman in GCW, John Bogie. Bogie starts off
with a simple offensive routine with armdrags and eventually hitting a clothesline. Soon Rios counters a headlock takeover into a
headscissors and eventually hits him with a shining wizard. He then hits John with a hangman’s neckbreaker and followed that up
with a running kneedrop. It looked like Bogie was starting to fight back, but Amien hits him with a jawjacker and drags him to the ring
apron hitting an elbow. Rios then hits a stun gun on the guardrail and sends John back in. He then hits a catapult senton. But soon The
80’s guy starts to fight back hitting clotheslines and slamming Amien hard to the mat. He then went for the springboard moosault,
but Rios got the knees up. Amien then covered John, and thanks to a handful of tights, ended up getting the three count.
After the match, Rios trash talked Bogie and slapped him. John then punched Amien, causing him to leave the ring.
Up next the debuting Brian Cage took on the psychopath, Death Row, who on Wednesday left his manager, Dr Chick Donovan a bloody
mess in the shower. Cage tried to get some offense in, but it had no effect and Death Row nailed a Rock Bottom. Later he whipped Cage
into the corner and nailed a huge clothesline. Later he caught Brian, who was trying a springboard crossbody, and hits a huge Samoan
drop. The big man nailed the new comer with a swinging neckbreaker and quickly followed that up with a snap suplex. Now Cage did get
some offense in as Death Row missed a front elbow from the second rope. Brian nailed the psychopath with a jumping sidekick and hits
a pretty cool looking springboard tornado DDT. But the end came for young Mr. Cage as he gets nailed with a huge boot to the face for the
victory. For some reason, after the match, Death Row attacks the referee and keeps choking him until the orderly comes out and sedates
The main event of the night was a steel cage match for the GCW Heavyweight title as Johnny Swinger w/Quentin Michaels and GCW
Women’s champion Melissa Coates defended the title against Scotty Beach. The cage is locked and both wrestlers begin to
exchange punches. Beach hits some forearms to the back, but Swinger soon turned the offense in his favor with an eye rake. He then
starts to choke Scotty with the ropes and nailed a running knee lift. Soon both wrestlers were stopping the each other escaping the cage,
before Johnny nailed a short arm clothesline. Swinger then tried to go out the door, but Beach caught in and crotched him on the bottom
rope. Scotty then started to work on the leg, locking in the figure four. After letting go of the move, he then jumped on Swinger’s leg
and later nailed a flying clothesline from the second rope. Scotty then climbed to the top of the cage trying to get out, but Swinger pulled
him down. Johnny then tried to escape through the door again, but Beach stopped him and slingshot him throat first into the bottom rope.
But as Scotty tried to leave, Coates slammed the door in his face. Swinger then sent Beach into the cage and Michaels slid a pool cue
into the ring. Swinger is soon hitting Beach with the stick and soon Scotty has a crimson mask. Swinger nailed Scotty with a White
Russian legsweep and nailed him with a pool style shot to the head. Then Johnny tried to escape the ring and almost got out, but Beach
caught him. Beach then was able to hit Swinger with a knee drop and started to climb out of the cage, But Johnny caught him and nailed
a huge superplex. Both wrestlers were out of it, but Beach was right by the door, so he started to crawl out. Quentin Michaels started to
take a few cheap shots at Scotty and tossed a police baton. Swinger beats and chokes Beach with the baton. Soon Scotty starts to use
the baton on Swinger as he was celebrating. Swinger quickly takes the advantage back by hitting the shaft. A few minutes later, both
wrestlers threw each other into the cage and Swinger took off his belt and whipped Beach like a redheaded stepchild. But soon Beach
took the belt off of Johnny and started to choke him out. The referee at the door Jeff McGowan was knocked out by Coates who entered
the cage. She attacked Beach from behind, but Scotty puts Melissa over his knee and spanked her. Then he sent her into Swinger. Beach
starts to climb the cage and Quentin Michaels enters the ring. He then tries to drag Swinger out of the cage, but Scotty climbed over the
top, yes that is right, I said over the top, and got to the floor before Michaels was able to drag Swinger to the door. Winner and new GCW
Heavyweight champion, “The Beach Boy Scotty Beach.
After the match, Commissioner Oates, Brian Cage, Bad Company and Jonathan Davis all came out and celebrated with Beach. Scotty
got on the mic, thanking the fans for the support, thanking Bo for the chance and telling Swinger that he will never get the belt back.
Raven returns next week.
