Last night’s NWA Anarchy television taping in Cornelia produced a surprising title change, as New Wave defeated the NWA Elite to win the tag team championship in an unadvertised title match. The Elite, comprised of Shatter and Kimo managed by Jeff G. Bailey, won the titles just a month ago at Hostile Environment. While there is still no official word that Shatter has signed with WWE, the title switch left little doubt about where his future lies.

It certainly not one of Anarchy’s larger or hotter crowds. Attendance was down to 150. Indie crowds in these parts have been down across the board of late. Anarchy’s attendance is holding up better than most.

Quality wise, it was a fine show. They experimented with some different things, and with a full two months before the next major show, Fright Night, this was the perfect time to do it. Given the situation with Shatter, the tag title change worked out quite nicely. The main event worked well in setting the stage for Iceberg’s next heavyweight title challenge.

NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer addressed the crowd with Tabitha at his side. Photos of their new born son Griffin, still under 3 pounds after being born 10 weeks prematurely, were displayed on the big screen. Jerry said what took place 3 weeks ago was the most terrifying and heart wrenching experience of his life. Tab and Griffin both ended up on ventilators fighting for their lives. Jerry said it was the calls and emails that kept him going during that time. Jerry said the Anarchy locker room stepped up and produced one of the best television tapings of the year in his absence. Jerry promised to make Anarchy better than ever (based on this segment, a better mic is on the list). The fans gave the Palmers a standing ovation.

(1) Jeff Lewis beat Bo Newsome in 4:36. I wonder how long it’s been since Lewis jerked the curtain? Newsome got an early flurry before making the rookie mistake of telegraphing a backdrop. Lewis hit a stalling vertical suplex that got a pop from the Bleacher Bums. Newsome hit a spinning neckbreaker and went up top, but no water in the pool for his top rope splash. Lewis finished Newsome with a swinging neckbreaker. Lewis’ work was so smooth that Newsome’s inexperience never came into play.

Lewis taunted Don Matthews. Matthews chased Lewis out of the ring. Jay Clinton tried to jump Matthews and got his head taken off with a lariat, just like last time.

On the WrestleVision, we saw Talent & Money (JT Talent & Drew Pendelton) backstage with third wheel, Caleb Konley. Talent told Konley they needed his assistancet. Konley said sorry, he had a TV title match tonight. Pendleton said Konley’s priorities were messed up.

(2) Truitt Fields beat Caleb Konley to retain the NWA Anarchy Television Title in 6:36. As always, Fields was in splendid shape. He looks to have added some muscle mass. Fields infuriated Konley by doing the Rick Rude swivel hips. He hit a Stinger Splash and then a Lawler fist drop. Crowd quickly got behind Fields once Konley took over. Fields’ has greatly improved his facial expression while selling. Fields countered a tornado DDT with an overhead suplex, and it was both men down. Fields made the comeback. Konley tried to rough up the champ. Killing Fields for the 1-2-3. Solid match. Fields gave Konley more than I would have liked.

(3) Billy Buck beat Bob E (with Tyler Smith) via DQ in 7:48. The Technicians facial hair gives them a mean and nasty look. Smith’s sideburns get more outrageous each time out. The story here was massive interference by Smith. Buck went one on two early. E tried unsuccessfully to stay away from Buck’s bionic elbow. E pumphandled Buck’s arm and went to work on the shoulder with an assist from Smith. E busted out a frogsplash, but it took a lot out of him, and Buck kicked out. Buck was selling the arm huge during his comeback. Buck moved and E speared Smith off the apron. They traded near falls. Smith mistakenly tripped up E and Buck superkicked him. Smith pulled Buck out for the DQ.

Postmatch, E speared Buck, then came off the top rope onto Buck’s shoulder. Chris King hit the ring with his arm still in sling from the number Technicians did on him two weeks ago. Technicians left both members of Wild Bunch laying with their shoulders destroyed. Sweet. This has the makings of a stellar midcard program.

(4) Chip Day beat Slim J in a Young Lion’s Division match (12 minutes). Slim J a Young Lion? He may be under the age limit, but the guy is a 7 year pro and has held numerous titles in Wildside and Anarchy. Adrian Hawkins came out to do commentary. Fans weren’t feeling this match at all – it was a 180 from the high flying lightning-paced style that got over so well in the first Young Lions match. Matwork opening. They squared off after swapping huracanranas. J started working armbar submissions. He also used the Roach Clip. Day countered Anger Management with a tornado kick. Back and forth pin attempts – Malenko/Guerrero this was not. Day hit a double knee off the middle rope for a near fall. Hawkins came to ringside and distracted referee Brent Wiley, as J had Day rolled up for a visual fall. Jay Fury hit the ring with an enzuigiri on J. Day won it with a frogsplash. Technically fine, but overly long and not the type of match the people wanted to see. As a result of the loss, J got stuck with the number one position in a future Young Lions Mega Rumble.

Seth Delay was backstage with a skin tight skull cap covering his newly balded head. Chad Parham started laying it on thick about what a sweet hat Delay had. Parham said they would sell like hotcakes if they marketed them as shower caps. Parham said they had long memories and short tempers where Ace Rockwell was concerned.

(5) NWA Elite (Shatter & Kimo with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews) to retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Championship in 8:06. This was scheduled as non-title, but Alexander got on the mic and goaded Bailey into putting the titles on the line. Kimo did his awesome no selling act, as Brunettes tried to use their speed and quickness. They finally succeeded in getting Kimo off his feet for a one count. Matthews started taking serious heat. Kimo suplexed him by his freaking chin, then gave him a tree slam and then, the Muta power drive elbows. Shatter delivered a series of corner shoulder blocks, and Matthews like to have puked up his gall bladder. Alexander got the hot tag but couldn’t put Shatter down. Again, it took a double team to finally get the job done. Brunettes managed to escape a double press slam. Elite collided. Brunettes tried for the Sheeney Curse on Shatter, but Kimo broke that up. Matthews tried for a huracanrana, and Shatter snatched him and planted him with the PTSD like he was nothing.

(6) Chris Mayne pinned T. K. Cross with one foot on the top rope at 3:36. The Bums have adopted Cross as one of their pets. Cross dominated until the finish. Mayne gets it.

The debuting Mayne’s head swelled at an alarming rate. He proclaimed himself to be Anarchy’s only undefeated wrestler and put his streak on the line against anybody in the back. It got great heat. Earth to Mayne - anybody turned out to be Mikal Judas.

(7) Mikal Judas squashed Mayne in 1:32. Mayne’s eyes were bulging as Judas approached the ring. Judas brutalized him. Mayne went way, way up for the chokeslam, and flew far, far across the ring on El Crucifijo (Border Toss). Judas gave the title belt around the waist motion.

(8) Mr. Adonis (with Jeremy Vain) beat Hayden Young in 6:34. Vain said he wasn’t feeling it, so Adonis was taking his place. Vain’s chickenshit ways know no bounds. He was overmatch against Judas but here he was doing the same thing against a guy his own size. Young got a great pop. Adonis slowed down Young’s mile-a-minute attack with a sleeper. Young went for the spinning enzuirgiri, but Adonis turned it into an exploder suplex. Adonis used his power game to decimate Young’s lower back. V interfered liberally. Adonis had Young in position for a Crackerjack, but he escaped and hit the spinning enzuigiri. Young’s comeback culminated with Adonis on the deck after taking the Coldshot. Young went to the top for his signature Flying Squirrel. He fought off Vain’s interference, but Adonis was able to get to his feet. The finish was logical, although maybe a bit too subtle – Young tried for a body slam, and collapsed due to the cumulative effects of the damage to his low back.

(9) New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) beat Talent & Money (JT Talent & Drew Pendleton with Caleb Konley) in 5:44. T & M dragged a reluctant Konley down the ramp. Monster pop for New Wave. In the early going, Walters did the old school headlock/headscissors takedown on T & M. Driver took the heat with Konley declining an opportunity to interfere. Crowd was hot for Driver. Pendleton silenced them with a wheelbarrow face plant. Off the hot tag, Walters gave Pendleton a German suplex, but Talent saved. Driver then pinned Pendleton after the Unskinny Bop. Konley walked out on his loser partners. Fine for what it was.

Greg Hunter’s attempt to interview the victorious number one contenders was rudely interrupted by Jeff G. Bailey. He said New Wave’s fan base consisted of teenage girls in their training bras, dried up old prunes and homosexuals. Bailey offered the “nice little pretty boys” a title shot if they dared. After a brief consultation, New Wave knocked Bailey on his ass. The Elite hit the ring. New Wave bailed and grabbed the title belts. It was on.

(10) New Wave beat NWA Elite (with Bailey) to win the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Championship in 8:30. They brawled outside the ring with Elite getting much the better of it. The destruction continued inside the ring with Walter taking wicked stiff punishment from Shatter’s high impact offense and Kimo’s martial arts strikes. Shatter speared Walters for a near fall. Shatter set him up for the PTSD, but Walters escaped and connected with a superkick. Hot tag to Driver. Kimo rolled through on Driver’s high crossbody and picked him up, but Walters sent Kimo down with a missile dropkick to his partner’s back. Driver hit a quebrada on Kimo, but Shatter nailed Driver with a spinebuster. Shatter had Driver up for the PTSD powerbomb when Walters clipped his knee. Driver landed on top of Shatter for the pin. The surprise title change got the pop of the night. Shatter paused to take a long look at the crowd on his way out. Few fans seemed to recognize this might be their last time seeing him in Anarchy.

(11) Shadow Jackson & Sal Rinauro & Ace Rockwell beat Devil’s Rejects (Iceberg & Shaun Tempers & Azarel with the Rev) in 16 minutes. Best heat of the night. Delay and Parham attacked Rockwell as he was being introduced, so it was three against two. The crowd revved up a HUGE “Shadowmania” chant for Jackson, as the faces fought the odds. Rinauro tried for an ill-advised top rope move near the heel corner. Rejects gave him a beating. Iceberg switched things up by working on Sal’s shoulder with a hammerlock slam and Thigh Drop of Doom. The Reverend used his staff on Jackson. Jackson confronted the Reverend at ringside, but Iceberg blasted Jackson from the blindside like a charging rhino. With Jackson down and Rinauro in deep s***, Rockwell returned to take the hot tag. He didn’t have the upper hand for long. The crowd chanted “Let’s Go Ace”, as the Rejects worked on his midsection. Jackson got the hot tag and finally got a clean shot at Iceberg. Azrael cut Jackson off, but Azrael collided with Berg, and Jackson pinned Azrael clean with the 1031.

Postmatch, Iceberg and Jackson squared off and the ref corp hit the ring to separate them.
