Great Championship Wrestling results from at the Gr8 Sk8 Plex in Phenix City, AL, with paid attendance of 112.
(1) Tex Monroe beat Bobby Moore
Slow as molasses match with Monroe appearing to be under the weather. Monroe won it a with a blockbuster type maneuver.
(2) Rob Adonis (with J. P. Money) beat the debuting Dany Only
Only surprisingly got a ton of offense against Adonis, much of it working on the leg. Adonis "Robbed Up" near the end and pinned Only
with a powerslam. They don't seem to have much faith in Adonis as a babyface.
(3) "80s Guy" John Bogie beat "Russian Mercenary" (with Princeton Gainey)
If you expected Mercenary to be an imposing brute, you would be wrong. Turned out to be a pasty looking kid cruiserweight. Horrible
match. Bogie rolled Mercenary up as he was complaining to the ref.
(4) Scott Steele beat Ron Stalker (with Princeton Gainey)
Gainey put Stalker over as the next big thing. Steele beat his ass. Steele has a Batista thing going with his hairdo and goatee. It's a good
look for him. This match worked well as Steele was booked like he's something special.
(5) Hot Like Lava (Cru Jones & Shaun Banks with Quentin Michaels) beat Southside Trash (Rowdy & Raunchy with J. P. Money)
Michaels said Bogie, Adonis, J-Rod and Frankie Valentine were all barred. SST not as over as previously with Lava getting stronger pops.
There were points at which the two teams were not on the same page. Raunchy got so blown up, he jumped down to get a bottle of water
from Money. Merchants of Death (Murder One & Orion Bishop with Wicked Nemesis) came out and beat up on Raunchy. Hot Like Lave
scored the pin on Rowdy with a double flapjack.
Post-match: Hot Like Lava and MOD administered a massive and lengthy beatdown to where SST and Money were carried out. All of the
top babyfaces were barred from coming to their rescue, but it would have been a great spot for Steel to make the save.
(6) GCW Champion J-Rod & Frankie Valentine beat Orion Bishop & Murder One (with Wicked Nemesis) via DQ
Best match of the night. J-Rod and Valentine clearly the most over the babyface side. Competitive with all four looking good on offense.
Eventually it was Valentine taking the Ricky Morton type beating from MOD. J-Rod was a ball of fire with the hot tag. A round of heel bumps
(including Nemesis) left J-Rod standing tall, but he was jumped by Hot Like Lava. Bishop covered. J-Rod made the miracle kick out.
Bishop grabbed the ref. J-Rod pushed Bishop, who hit referee Jeremy Black (yep, the guy who was the "GCW Ref" at Prime Time) for the
DQ.
MOD, Nemesis and Lava annihilated J-Rod 5-on-1 until Valentine saved with a chair. J-Rod said it wasn't over.
An average show overall.
Next week is the benefit show for Megan Johnson with J-Rod vs. Jones for the title and a gauntlet match. All kids 7 and under admitted
free.
