FUNNY STORY FROM THE PAST
– Dick Steinborn

June 17, 2008

In the early to mid 1950s, Buddy Rogers teamed with his home town buddy "The Great Scott", defending several tag team titles across
the US.

I arrived at the Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium in Florida to wrestle Don Fargo on a Thursday night. Rogers was booked
elsewhere that night, but Scott came into the dressing room with a hilarious story about Buddy.

Scott told the tale of how he and Buddy were flying out of Miami to their home base in Camden, New Jersey, a few weeks back.

As the story was told, Buddy was sound asleep in the aisle seat, while two seats over Scott was occupying the window seat. An empty
seat was between them.

As the plane descended rapidly into New Jersey, the cabin pressure was somehow delayed because of the quick descent of the
airplane, and the stewardess came walking up the aisle checking everyone’s seat belts.

As she leaned over a sleeping Buddy Rogers to check and see if Scott’s belt was intact, the cabin pressure evidently did a number,
and with a loud roar from where Buddy was sitting emerged a distasteful smell that quickly rose to the nostril of the stewardess, sort of
like a mile-high fart.

Scott went on to say that the look on the stewardess’ face told the whole tale. Buddy was just about waking up at that time when Scott
slung his left arm over towards his left side, slamming his open hand hard into Buddy’s chest, loudly shouting, “Wake up, Buddy,
we just hit a skunk!

A real classic.
