He said that if Crawford’s team had lost on this card and X was revealed to be either Dykes or Crawford, one or both would be suspended. Gentleman X had vowed to unmask if his team did not win. The win allowed Jack Crawford to return from his suspension, alleviating Gentleman X from his duties, and made it all moot.
