Enrique & Ramon Torres had been the reigning World Tag Team Champions since they defeated Lars & Gene Anderson on May 12, 1967, in Atlanta. There was an interesting item in the program for this card where Crawford made allegations that Mr. Wrestling was Tim Woods. He said he had narrowed it to Woods after considering it was not Ray Gunkel, Verne Gagne, or Dale Lewis. He also claimed he was being a good sport when he announced that El Lobo was Jose Gonzalez from Barcelona, Spain. However, during the match between Enrique & Ramon Torres and El Lobo & Oki Yama, Lobo was unmasked and identified as Stan Vachon.
