It is unclear what matches leading up to this card were part of the tournament, but it was reported that in addition to Mahoney and Massey, other participants included Rebel Russell, Ralph Garibaldi, Johnny Long, Babe Zaharias, Chris Zaharias, Rex Mobley, Lozano Martinez, and Nick Carter. AUGUST 9, 1957 (FRIDAY) Notes: In Savannah, GA, Babe Zaharias was found dead in his hotel room at the age of 42. He was believed to have died between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM. He had wrestled as a substitute the previous night. He was billed as a Zaharias brother, but in reality he was a cousin to George, Tom, and Chris Zaharias. |
