It was later reported to have been chloroform, after an empty bottle of carbon tetrachloride was found in the dressing room. The Raiders were reportedly fined $100 each for their actions. The Torres had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated Louie Tillet & Butcher Vachon on October 21, 1966, in Atlanta. NOVEMBER 4, 1966 (FRIDAY) ATLANTA, GA ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Southern Tag Team Title Match: Enrique & Ramon Torres* defeated the Red Raiders by disqualification Notes: The Red Raiders were disqualified in their match with Enrique & Ramon Torres when Chico Cortez interfered. The Raiders were caught trying to use chloroform to subdue one of the Torres brothers. The Torres had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated Louie Tillet & Butcher Vachon on October 21, 1966, in Atlanta. Tillet and Vachon blamed the Raider for the loss, and there was a brief confrontation between them. Chico Cortez and Red Raider #2 were barred from the building during the match. The program for this card mentions that Enrique & Ramon Torres are recognized as World Tag Team Champions. It is unclear as to how they came to be recognized as such, as the last reference we have shows Enrique & Alberto Torres defending the title against the Infernos on August 26, 1966, in Atlanta. Following the match between Enrique & Ramon Torres and Lars & Gene Anderson, the Southern Tag Team Title was held up for unstated reasons, pending an investigation of the match.
