(Henry Weber – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling)
> Boxing Match: Max Baer and Pete Westort sparred for four rounds
Notes: Jack Dempsey was the special referee for the match between Max Baer and Pete Westort.  Dempsey and George Kotsonaros staged a mock fight a day earlier for the press at the train station.  They were old friends and Kotsonaros had trained with Dempsey before Dempsey’s big fights with Tommy Gibbons and the first bout with Gene Tunney.  Dempsey got the biggest cheer of the night.  During the Kotsonaros’ match with Paul Jones, Dempsey was in the dressing room tying Kotsonaros’ suit into knots as a joke.

Notes: Jack Dempsey was the special referee for the match between Don McIntyre and Babe Zaharias, as well as the match between Jim Coffield and Jack Ross, Jr.  In the latter bout, Dempsey declared Ross the winner when Coffield was unable to continue after having been injured in a pre-match brawl with Al Massey.

Notes: Don McIntyre had been billed as Southern Heavyweight Champion since September 19, 1952.  Jack Dempsey was the special referee for the match between McIntyre and Eduardo Perez.

SEPTEMBER 7, 1953 (MONDAY) – AUGUSTA, GA – WILLIAM BELL AUDITORIUM
(Tom Mahoney – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling)
> Southern Heavyweight Title Match: Don McIntyre* defeated the Swedish Angel
Notes: Don McIntyre had been billed as Southern Heavyweight Champion since March 16, 1953.  Jack Dempsey was the special referee for the match between McIntyre and the Swedish Angel, and he knocked out the Angel during the third fall.

SEPTEMBER 18, 1953 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM

Notes: In the program for this card there is a photo of Ray Gunkel and Jack Dempsey together, stating that Dempsey had managed Gunkel in Chicago at one time.  It went on to say that Dempsey still offered Gunkel advice from time to time.
