Notes: Klondike Bill and Swede Karlson were the special referees for the match between the Mysterious Medics and Eric & Karl Von Brauner.  The Von Brauners took the belts following the match, claiming they were cheated.  Saul Weingeroff managed the Von Brauners.  The Von Brauners had been the reigning World Tag Team Champions since they defeated Al Costello & Louie Tillet on February 11, 1966, in Atlanta.

Notes: It is unclear as to how the Southern Tag Team Title became vacant to make the tournament necessary.  The last reference we have shows the Infernos defending the title against Bobby Shane & Mario Galento on April 15, 1966, in Atlanta.  It was reported that the winners of the tournament would also receive $5,000.  During the tournament, Enrique & Alberto Torres were declared winners of their match with the Infernos when time ran out and judges gave the match to them.  The final match of the tournament saw the Torres brothers defeat the Mysterious Medics after the Infernos interfered, throwing a fireball at Medic #2 when the referee was distracted.  J.C. Dykes managed the Infernos.
