During the tournament, Enrique & Alberto Torres were declared winners of their match with the Infernos when time ran out and judges gave the match to them. The final match of the tournament saw the Torres brothers defeat the Mysterious Medics after the Infernos interfered, throwing a fireball at Medic #2 when the referee was distracted. J.C. Garibaldi counted the latter, whereas Harben counted the other. Amid the confusion, Garibaldi ruled the Inferno who had pinned the Medic but Harben convinced him otherwise. Dykes reportedly filed a protest with the NWA, and the title was held up pending a review. The rematch ended up being held on June 10, 1966.
