Notes: Freddie Blassie had been the reigning Southern Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Dickie Gunkel on August 7, 1959, in Atlanta.  During the match between Ray Gunkel and Freddie Blassie, Gorgeous George came to ringside and threw “Georgie” pins at Gunkel, but he ducked and they flew into Blassie’s eyes instead, allowing Gunkel to get the pin on a distracted Blassie.  Blassie left the ring and attacked George, but Gunkel helped chase Blassie away.  George then issued a challenge to Blassie for a match, and the fans instantly cheered him.
