During the match between Ray Gunkel, Buddy Fuller & Mr. Wrestling and Tarzan Tyler, Dr. M & El Mongol, Gunkel removed the Dr. M’s mask to identify him as someone who strongly resembled Oki Shikina, but his face was covered so fast it could not be completely confirmed. X claimed, however, that Dr. M was not Shikina, but rather a Mexican wrestler named Senor Zapata. Leo Garibaldi was credited as being a referee on this card. MARCH 22, 1968 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > NWA World Heavyweight Title Match: Gene Kiniski* defeated Mr. Wrestling (1) Notes: Gene Kiniski had been the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Lou Thesz on January 7, 1966, in St. Louis, MO. The program for this card mentioned that Paul Jones believed that Gentleman X was Jack Crawford in a mask, although he walked with a limp and seemed to be a bit smaller in stature than Crawford. Jones noted that he had agreed to allow Crawford to appear for a match on March 29, 1968, so that both he and Gentleman X could be seen at the same place at the same time, giving him the opportunity to confirm or deny the allegations. Crawford was quoted in the program that he had only pulled the stunt with El Mongol appearing as Dr. M to avenge the fact that Mr. Wrestling and the Torres brothers had started “all of this mask business” many months prior, once again claiming Mr. Wrestling was Tim Woods in a mask. MARCH 26, 1968 (TUESDAY) – MACON, GA – MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (Fred Ward – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Mr. Wrestling (1) defeated Tank Morgan Notes: It was reported that 2,394 were in attendance for this card. Gentleman X (1) managed Dr. M. During the match between Mr. Wrestling and Dr. M, a second Dr. M (1) tried to switch, and he was quickly unmasked and identified as El Mongol. Mr. Wrestling was initially declared the winner on the match with El Mongol, but Mongol had knocked out referee Leo Garibaldi, and Louie Tillet, who had run in to help, made the count. The decision was reversed afterward by Garibaldi, saying Tillet was not a licensed referee. He did, however, disqualify Mongol for his actions. Mongol had been billed as Georgia Heavyweight Champion since October 10, 1967. APRIL 19, 1968 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – PAUL JONES SPORTS ARENA (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > The Rising Suns defeated Louie Tillet & Mr. Wrestling (1) APRIL 27, 1968 (SATURDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WQXI STUDIOS (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > The Big O (1) defeated Dick Steinborn Notes: This was for the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. Gentleman X (1) managed the Big O. Following his match with the Big O, Dick Steinborn announced to Capral that he believed the masked man was Bob Orton. Gentleman X said that the Big O would unmask and reveal his identity after he defeated all the masked men in Georgia. Capral responded that he would have his hands full in trying to defeat Mr. Wrestling. X replied that O had already defeated Mr. Wrestling years ago in Kansas City when he was wrestling under his real name of Tim Woods. Paul Jones announced that Jack Crawford had visited him during the week, and was on crutches, claiming he had been in an automobile accident, which seemed ironic since Gentleman X walked with a limp. MAY 3, 1968 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Georgia Heavyweight Title Match: Mr. Wrestling (1) defeated El Mongol* to win title Notes: Gentleman X (1) managed El Mongol. Mr. Wrestling had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated El Mongol on May 3, 1968, in Atlanta. Gentleman X (1) managed the Big O. In the program for this card, Paul Jones claimed he felt the Big O on the May 3, 1968, card was bigger and seemed stronger than the original Big O who had been here previously. It has been rumored that Tim Woods, who had been wrestling as Mr. Wrestling, was unhappy that he had been asked to not only leave the promotion following his match with the Big O, but to also unmask and finally reveal his identity. Though it had long been speculated he was Tim Woods, he was reportedly upset with this request and left the company abruptly following this card. SEPTEMBER 7, 1968 (SATURDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – WQXI STUDIOS (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) Notes: This was for the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral. DECEMBER 19, 1969 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Mr. Wrestling defeated Paul DeMarco by disqualification Notes: Homer O’Dell managed Paul DeMarco.
